Sunday Morning
Worship Experience
Zion AME Church gathers every Sunday morning for worship. Whether you are visiting for the first time or returning after years away, you will find a warm and Spirit-filled community ready to welcome you.
Sunday Morning Worship
Our Sunday Morning Worship Service begins at 10:00 AM. Services are held in the sanctuary at 1600 S. 21st Street, Philadelphia, PA 19145. Plan to arrive a few minutes early so an Usher can help you find a seat.
Church School
Church School is held following the Morning Worship Service each Sunday. Classes are available for all ages. It is a wonderful opportunity to go deeper into Scripture and connect with fellow members of the congregation.
Holy Communion
Holy Communion is celebrated on the First Sunday of each month during Morning Worship. All are welcome at the Lord's Table. Visitors are invited to participate fully in this sacred observance.
Come As You Are
There is no dress code at Zion. We simply ask that you come with an open heart and give God your best. You will find members dressed in everything from their Sunday finest to casual attire. What matters most is that you are here.
Arriving at Zion
Parking
Street parking is available throughout the neighborhood surrounding the church.
Street Parking
Parking is available on S. 21st Street and the surrounding blocks near S. 21st and Tasker Streets. Most nearby parking is two-hour Philadelphia Parking Authority (PPA) residential permit parking.
Church Parking Placard
When you arrive, please ask a Trustee or an Usher for a Zion parking placard. Place it on your dashboard. The placard lets PPA officers know that you are attending worship services at Zion AME Church, helping to ensure you are not ticketed during the service.

Children are welcome in all of our worship services. We encourage families to worship together. You will find that our congregation loves and celebrates the presence of young people.
Church School for All Ages
Church School follows Morning Worship each Sunday and offers age-appropriate instruction for children, youth, and adults. It is a great way for children to grow in faith alongside their peers.

Getting Here
1600 S. 21st Street, Philadelphia, PA 19145
From North Philadelphia
Take Broad Street south to Washington Avenue. Turn right on Washington Avenue, then left on S. 21st Street. The church is on your right.
From South Philadelphia
Take S. Broad Street or S. 20th Street north toward Washington Avenue. Turn onto S. 21st Street heading north. The church will be on your left.
From Center City / East
Head south on Broad Street to Washington Avenue. Turn right on Washington Avenue, then left on S. 21st Street. The church is on your right.
From West Philadelphia / I-76
Take I-76 East to the South Street exit. Head east on South Street, then turn right on S. 21st Street and continue south to the church.
By SEPTA
Broad Street Line (Orange Line)
Exit at Ellsworth-Federal Station. Walk west on Federal Street to S. 21st Street, then turn right. The church is a short walk north.
Bus Route 17
The Route 17 bus travels along S. 20th Street. Exit near Washington Avenue and walk one block west to S. 21st Street.
Bus Route 29
The Route 29 bus travels along Washington Avenue. Exit near S. 21st Street and walk one block south to the church.
